- You need to specify what your mail configuration is, before you can
- select a copy of elm. Among other things to be specified are such things as
- whether you are using /usr/lib/sendmail (e.g. with ethernet), or whether you
- are using /bin/mail. Based on that are some secondary choices, such as
- whether you can usually trust the contents of "Reply-To:' headers, whether
- your system can handle domain style addresses, and lots of other small
- details, some of which are just personal taste.
-
- I, personally, am running sendmail (and the ethernet), and can
- usually trust "Reply-To:" headers, so if you don't have the ethernet
- software, (or some alternate version of sendmail), you probably want one
- compiled to use /bin/mail. If you have sendmail, but try using the version
- compiled for /bin/mail, you can only mail locally, and via uucp. Mail will
- *never* get into the ethernet.

-
- It is intended to be a mirror site, and is maintained by the same
- person, so it is not unexpected for them to be identical.
-
- I don't know of any other site that explicitly carries 3B1 code,
- except perhaps Andy Fyfe's site which has pre-compiled binaries of many
- programs for the 3B1, including TeX. I don't have the address ready-to-hand
- at the moment, since I don't have ftp access from home. He posts here
- fairly frequently, and will probably re-post the address for you.
-
- BTW - don't get the gcc binaries and expect to be able to compile.
- They are dependant on other things (header files, libraries, etc) which come
- with the development set. Perhaps someday there will be a complete set
- available for the machine, but not yet.
-
- Good Luck
- DoN.
