  13. I quote from the FAQ, which was not sent out last month because of a bug
  14. in the upgrade procedures for my OS:

  20. The OSI community has a large number of organizations that derive
  21. revenue from *selling* copies of these standards.

  23. The CCITT, not being funded in that way, made an experiment in which
  24. they made all the CCITT documents available for anonymous FTP, but
  25. that experiment terminated on December 31, 1991, to be replaced by a
  26. service run out of the ITU offices in Geneva at some later date.

  28. The net result is that there are a lot of electronic copies out there,
  29. but it is not legal to make them available for anonymous FTP after
  30. December 31, 1991.

  32. Note: This applies ONLY to the CCITT documents; ISO standards have
  33. never been put on the network.
