- Here's a question from a non-Mac user. I am trying to configure my Sun
- SPARCStation 2 (running SunOS 4.1.2) to send printer output to an Apple
- LaserWriter II. The Suns are on an ethernet along with some Macs, and
- the printer is on an AppleStar network served by a Novell print spooler
- (running Netware). The Macs send print jobs through the Novell.
-
- I've set up the CAP software on the Sun to use native ethertalk (NIT).
- The Sun can successfully query all the Mac zones (using getzones), and
- can find all the printers (using atlooklws). However, when I try to send
- output to the printer, I get a PAPRead error (Printer Access Prototcol)
- # -3109.
-
- The output from running the tlw program looks like this:
-
- ------------------------------
- bivalve[137] tlw LW2_Q:LaserWriter@24340-L1
- abInit: [ddp: 90.110, 69], [GW: 90.110, 44] starting
- Starting session with LW2_Q:LaserWriter@24340-L1
- Spooling to NetWare Queue
-
- Okay
- PAPRead error -3109
- Error in first line
- PAPRead error -3109
- PAPWrite error -1
- bivalve[138]
- ------------------------------
-
- (I am on a different zone from the printer: 24340-A1)
-
- I haven't been able to find any clues as to what this error means. Can
- anyone out there help me with this? I'm not at all familiar with AppleTalk,
- so forgive me if I've left out any key information...
-
- Thanks!
-
- Dave
