-
- Well, yes, as long as I (a) want to dedicate my serial port both on the
- machine I am dialing into and the machine I am dialing from to OS2YOU, and
- (b) as long as I have a phone line and modem on the machine I am dialing
- into.
-
- For me, both of those points is a problem. Everything I do is related to
- IP networking, so that's how all the machines I ever use (of which the
- majority are not OS/2 machines) are networked - so I always establish a SLIP
- link from my home machine to work. I normally have several active sessions
- to completely different machines all running over that one link, so giving
- it up just to get connected to one OS/2 machine isn't a nice choice.
-
- Also, all of the OS/2 machines at work are already running TCP/IP and are on
- the office ethernet. With my SLIP connection I can telnet to any of them
- without requiring separate phone lines and modems. Adding OS2YOU's additional
- remote use capability (task switching, DOS sessions, etc..) but allowing the
- IP channel to be used for the communication is the best of both worlds
- (hopefully, and IMHO).
