- MH. Subject: S3 Advice Wanted
- MH.
- MH. I plan to purchase a 486 box with a Diamond Stealth S3-based video card.
- MH. I would like to run OS/2. However, I know that S3 drivers are not yet
- MH. available and I understand that the Diamond Stealth is not 8514a
- MH. compatible. I would appear to have two options (not counting buying a
- MH. different video card): 1) install OS/2 with a standard VGA driver then
- MH. install an S3 driver when they come out 2) wait until drivers for the
- MH. Diamond Stealth are released. As I am not currently running OS/2, I
- MH. have no idea how difficult it would be to change video drivers. Any
- MH. suggestions on what I should do?
-
- I have a 486 with a Stealth VRAM and run it as a cheapo VGA card, hoping
- that S3 will see the light and get their drivers out before every OS/2
- user has switched to ATI. I run OS/2, mostly as a quite excellent
- replacement for DESQview, and rarely run Windows. When I bring this up to
- the folks at Diamond, they act as though it is heresy to use the Stealth
- VRAM with anything but Windows... MicroSoft must have brainwashed them all
- so that they can't see OS/2's growth... Regards, Mikey
