- And why 90% of us are pissed off since we own SVGA cards which blow away VGA,
- XGA, and 8514/a, but which IBM decided to do an asinine job of supporting.
- Everytime someone asks "How do I get drivers for an ET-4000 card" I launch a
- long description of all the arcane things I had to do to get mine working; I
- should just publish it weekly as an addendum to Tim's FAQ. IBM $%^&ed up on
- the SVGA support; don't bother trying to defend them.

- Don't get me wrong ... I really like OS/2, and now that I did all the tweaks
- to get 1024x768x256 modes in both the WPS and Win-OS2, I am really enjoying
- it. But I had to put way too much blood, sweat, and tears into this thing to
- get it up to snuff. I almost deleted OS/2 off my hard disk a few weeks ago, I
- got so frustrated with it, but I had a brilliant insight :-) just seconds
- before hitting the return key which fixed my worst two video problems. But it
- shouldn't have to be this hard. And since I am a hacker by heart, who doesn't
- mind getting down and dirty when it comes to making my computer sing, what do
- normal people do when they find they can't get their SVGA card to work? If IBM
- wants to break into and keep the non-corporate, home-user type market, they
- have to make it easier for us to set this thing up with our current hardware -
- which means they had better improve the SVGA support in the next go-round.
