- I would like to share an interesting tid-bit ..
-
- about DOS/DPMI compliant programs ... atleast the one program
- I tried!
-
- Program Name: Chemshare's Design II Package (Chemical engineers know this)
-
- The program first checks to see if it has all the memory it needs ...
- for example, it was looking for 6144 Kb. I had about 512 Kb RAM available
- (memsize.exe) and a swap file 4096 Kb in size, with another 2048 (or so) Kb
- left on the available for the swap file to grow.
-
- The program complained. It did not run.
-
- I increased the swap file size by about 10 Mb, the program worked.
-
- Based on one single simulation, the program running in OS/2's VDM
- appeared to run faster than under DOS 5.0!
-
- Now, if I can upgrade Mathematica to a DPMI compliant version ...
- I'd be in high heaven!
