  25. Are you running IBM's Lan Server or Microsoft's Lan Manager?
  26. LanMan 2.1 has a utility call AsyncBEUI, which is essentially NetBEUI
  27. optimized for use over a serial line instead of ethernet/token ring.

  29. It's slow if you try to run any executables over it, but for accessing data
  30. or just reading mail, it's OK.

  32. I'm not familiar enough with Lan Server to know if it has this capability
  33. or not.  One thing you can do is run Norton's pcAnywhere on a DOS workstation
  34. on your LAN, and dial into it from a remote pc.  It supports dial-back
  35. security based on a password, but there is no way to attach a userid to
  36. a password - when you dial in to a PCAW host, you supply only a password,
  37. not userid/password.
