- Microsoft doesn't have bugs (they just rename them to UAE or GPF). ;-)
-
- But seriously, in the past, I have found it nearly impossible to get
- Microsoft to admit to any problems with their software. My frustration
- level with them was bad enough that I just stopped buying their software.
- Remember, Window 3.0 was extremely buggy and Microsoft publically stated
- that they would (in around 6 months) release 3.1 since there were only a
- few minor bugs fixes needed to the code. Well...... 1 1/2 - 2 years later,
- they finally released Windows 3.1. I know that Win 3.1 has enchancement to
- Win 3.0 but I suspect they delay really occurred because Win 3.0 was so
- poorly written that when MS tried fixing the bugs, it found out that the
- software needed a major re-write.
-
- Also, I don't recall IBM making statements that OS/2 was bug free. They
- did state something about OS/2 having set some quality record within IBM
- but they never stated that OS/2 didn't have bugs. From the bugs that I
- have encountered within OS/2, I think IBM is safe in making that claim.
- Overall the system is extremely stable. There are a few quicks, but
- nothing major. The biggest problem is that most of the quicks are within
- the WPS. My experience as a developer is that the worst part to have bugs
- (even very small ones) is in the user interface. Since people interact
- with it all the time, the tinies interface quicks become very annoying.
-
- Once again, I will also take this opportunity to praise IBM's response to
- fixing bugs and supplying patches. I just wish other companies were as
- responsive.
