- First of all, there are a few things you must have in order to run
- at a specific graphics mode.
- First of all, you must have enough video memory. This is memory that
- exist on the video card, not the ordinary RAM on the motherboard. For
- example,
- mode video memory needed
- 1024x768x256 1MB
- 1024x768x16 512kB
- 800x600x256 512kB
- etc, etc, I can't remember all of them and the refs are too far away.
- So check up on your documentation for your graphics card. If you have
- 256k of video memory, I think you can only run 640x400x256 if that. You
- have to check yourselve. You cannot redefine graphics memory in the same
- way as extended/expanded memory.
- Secondly, you will need a driver that does 256color for your particular
- card. There are a lot drivers listed in the setup. But you need one that
- knows your system. If your card is not in the default list, there is a
- last choice at the bottom, 'Other (require OEM disk)' or something like
- that. It will then ask you for the path of the drivers. The graphics card
- will need to come with some disks with the drivers and setup information
- in it. I am sure most graphics cards will come with the needed drivers.
- I hope this will help you solve your problems.
