  13. I just upgraded from 3.0 to 3.1 and, like so many others, I'm
  14. experiencing difficulties with more than two COM ports being active
  15. at once.

  17. My setup:
  18. Gateway 486/33 ISA-bus
  19.  
  20. IRQ 4    03F8    COM1 (serial mouse)
  21. IRQ 3    02F8    COM2 (external modem)
  22. IRQ 5    02E8    COM4 (internal data/fax modem card)
  23. IRQ 2        Sound Blaster Pro (default addr/dma).

  25. Under this configuration, COM2 works under any circumstance but
  26. accessing COM4 with a DOS app causes my mouse pointer to freeze until
  27. I restart Windows.  The mouse pointer freezes sometimes after I
  28. connect and get a few characters across my screen, other times as soon
  29. as the port is opened.  Note this only occurs when I access COM4 with
  30. a DOS app (namely Telix 3.15); accessing COM4 with the Terminal app
  31. included with Windows causes no problems.

  33. I've setup all the ports with the correct interrupts and base
  34. addresses in both Windows and Telix...  All of this worked fine under
  35. Windows 3.0.  I tried IRQ 7 with the SBPro and it made no difference.
  36. In fact, removing the SBPro temporarily made no difference.  
  37. Any ideas?  Should I switch to OS/2 2.0? (no flames, note Organization).
