- This is the first time I've posted to a newgroup, so forgive me if I
- make a few mistakes.
-
- I have been considering buying a program such as MathCAD for Windows or
- possibly Mathematica for the same. I run Win3.1 on a 486/33 and use the
- current versions of Word and Excel. Myquestion is which one will do a
- better job?
-
- I am a Masters student in Civil Engineering and am looking for a program
- that will effectively allow me to edit equations and allow me to do some
- number crunching. I have used Mathtype but would really like something
- that does more than make pretty pictures.
-
- I understand both programs allow some form of programming, and that is a
- feature that I'm really interested in. I want to be able to write some
- programs that will analyze data and give me results that can be easily
- pasted into a W4W document. I can purchase either package at a student
- discount but want to buy the right program the first time.
-
- Please forward you comments and experiences.
-
- Thanx
