- Occasionally I have the need to create a print image file
- when using my Windows based word processor (AmiPro 2.0)
- and ultimately create a floppy to be carried to another
- machine for transcription to a printer. The documents
- being produced in this manner use TrueType fonts
- exclusively.
-
- To do this I defined (via the Control Panel, Printers, Setup
- dialogs) an HP LaserJet Series II with 4.5MB as being
- "connected" to a file. In the setup options I have *not*
- selected the "Print TrueType as Graphics" option.
-
- I have observed that when I "print" to this virtual printer, the
- the created file consists totally of graphics orders (that is,
- it appears as if the page image was essentially rasterized)
- and thus is very, very large.
-
- I would have expected (and preferred) to have the file contain font
- definitions and ordinary HPPCL orders selecting the various fonts
- as required.
-
- Is there some way to achieve what I want? It would really be nice
- if the file did not contain the font definitions at all, but
- instead referenced the fonts by characteristics (the way HP recommends
- in their programming references for the Series II) such that the
- fonts could be preloaded in the target printer.
-
- Any help here would be greatly appreciated.
