Currnently we are using Novell 3.11 with it's TCP/IP transport to communicate
with our campus network.
Windows 3.1 is used as our user interface and so we would like to eliminate
Novell's menuing system and go directly into windows and run our applications from there.
Whenever we want to make a connection to any of our IBM hosts we use the TN3270 program. The problem is that sometimes the workstation would blank out and lockup that we would have to power down the workstation. Sometimes if and when we could exit out of TN3270, to return to windows, we would receive an EMM386 error.
We are using 3com's 3c523 NIC on a PS/2 Model 55sx. I thought the problem was
related to the NIC and I talked to a tech support rep from there. His response
was to set the EMMExclude, in system.ini, equal to the packet address of the NI
C. Also set the X parameter in EMM386 equal to the same address. The problem with the X parameter in EMM386 was that the starting address was to high! AFter looking at the configuration on the 55sx, the NIC packet address is D8000-Dffff.Refering to the Dos manual tells me that this is too high.
Does anyone know what is wrong, or has heard of this problem?
