  16. The unfortunate side of all this are the inevitable compatibility
  17. problems.  Without going much into the details I just run into one
  18. in a TP program.  Part of the error codes are dependent (returned
  19. from) the command interpreter.  (The particular case was different
  20. IOResult values retuned when running with MsDos and with DRDOS). 
  21. Not very net from a programmer's point of view.  I have no
  22. experience with 4DOS, but I would be very taken aback if there were
  23. no similar problems at all.

  25. I am not coasting for any particular solution for the others.  Just
  26. pointing out that there are compatibility problems of with the
  27. alternative interpreters.  Therefore I will continue writing my own
  28. programs for MsDos (with command.com).  Not because it would be
  29. particularly good (it is not), but because it is the most prevalent
  30. by an "astronomical" margin.
