- You should try compiling the kernel: it's really easy. All you really
- have to do is customize the Makefile and then type make. You don't
- have to wade through pages of C source or anything.

- The source for 0.97pl1 is only around 400k, as I remember. This isn't
- really much longer than a boot disk. [By the way, you are at a
- university, right? Don't they have any computer labs directly wired
- to the Internet, so you could ftp stuff and copy it without having to
- go through a modem?]

- Anyway, I guess you're right, binaries for the newest boot disk should
- probably be available. But compiling it yourself is very simple, and
- has a lot of advantages.
