- All I know is I have "fd0" and "fd1" and that they are autodetecting.
- Autodetecting doesn't always work. What do I do? What is setfdparms?
- I'm sure I'm not the only person still using the old device names.
-
- Was this "phasing-out" of device names made public or was it a secret
- plot against experienced Linux users? I remember Linus saying to create
- "fd0" and "fd1" but I don't remember anyone saying to get rid of or stop
- using "at0" and "PS1". What gives?
-
- Don't get me wrong, I'm not against change. I changed COM1 from /dev/ttys1
- to /dev/ttys0 after the serial device names were agreed upon. I just find
- it hard to believe that I could have missed an official announcement that
- these devices were being phased out and telling how to use the autodetect
- devices.
