- I'm trying to run Elm 2.3 PL11 on an HP 9000/345 running HP-UX 8.0.
- The problem is that there is no way for elm to create lock files in
- the mail spool directory (/usr/mail in this case) due to lack of write
- permission. Upon startup, Elm complains bitterly with:
-
- Can't create lock file! Need write permission in "/usr/mail/".
-
- Because my machine is a diskless client of a server I don't
- administer, there is no hope of changing the permissions on /usr/mail
- or running elm setgid. As far as I can tell, there is no easy
- configurable way to change the location of these lock files. Is there
- a workaround for this, or is the problem more complicated than I
- understand it?
-
- Any help would be greatly appreciated.
-
- Thanks,
-
- Matt
