- Use VIP, the vi emulator. VIP 3.5 is part of the standard
- Emacs distribution, but I recommend VIP 4.2, which is the
- result of Aamod Sane's extensive revisions last year. It's
- available for anonymous ftp from cs.uiuc.edu.

- I've been using GNU Emacs + VIP for three years with a fair
- degree of satisfaction. It combines the power and
- extensibility of Emacs with vi's speed of editing.
