- Hi we are tring to bring up a T1 line from Va. to Fla.
- The line was tested by GTE and we ran tests with a firebird and
- the error rate was well below 1%. We are using a ATT acculink
- multiplxer.
-
- Ok, the problem appears to be in the flow control handshanking.
- We are using HDLC protocol and want the link speed to be 1.424Mbits/s.
- The options for DCE data set controls are :
-
-
- 1) RTS/DCD
- 2) BO/RI
- 3) DRS/DSR
- 4) DTR/CTS
- 5) Local RTS/CTS
- 6) In-band Speed
- 7) RTS Delay
-
-
- Most of the above have options for , active, inactive, in-band
- and background. The odd part with the following setup we are gettng
- an 85% success (pings answered) at a slower speed (392,000 bitys/sec)
- but less that 5% at the 1,424,000 bits/sec. .
-
-
-
- RTS/DCD In-band : 400 bits/sec
- Local RTS/CTS Active
- DRS/DSR Active
- DTR/CTS Inactive
- BO/RI Inactive
-
-
-
-
-
- In-band - means end-to-end
- Background - means out of band transmission
- Active - means always high
- Inactive - low I think and Ignors the remote signal.
-
-
-
- We have tried changing the options around but they have had little effect.
- WE are not sure what the Cisco wants to see. We have leaned that unless all
- but one of the lights on the RS449 applica are lit the Cisco declairs the
- interface down.
-
- Our Cisco are running 8.2(4) and 8.2(3). We have an RS449 (Cisco end) to
- 25 ping connector (DB25 I think) made up to GTE's spec. If anyone has any
- insight as to what might be going wrong or set up incorrectly I would
- greatly appreciate it.
