- ok, first of all, my apologies about the fact that this is completely
- off of the topic...but there's something that appeared in the post to
- which I'm following up that simply does *NOT* make sense..... and I'm
- hoping the UUCP gurus in this group can tell me what's going on.....
-
- INTRO: I'm running Snews version 1.12, with UUPC. for those who
- don't know, Snews is a news program for PCs, and UUPC is UUCP for
- the PC <grin>.

- notice the Path: line? n5ial!mork!wolfgang ???
-
- now, I suspect that my news software might have seen the Newsgrous:
- header, and assumed it needed to add a Path: statement after that...
- but where did it pick up the !mork part?
-
- first of all, there are no machines that get a news feed from me
- (Snews can't even do that!), and there are no machines that I feed
- for e-mail.... in other words, I am a tail-site. n5ial!jim (me) is
- the only e-mail address on this machine (all others go to Postmaster,
- who happens to be me).
-
- in addition to that, this machine (n5ial --- named for my amateur
- radio callsign) only calls one site: gagme, so it doesn't even
- know of the existence of any machine called mork....
-
- I looked in the raw data file for comp.dcom.modems (Snews uses a single
- file for each newsgroup), and sure enough, this information is right
- in that file.... in fact, I did a grep on ``mork'' in all of the
- newsgroup files, as well as in the Snews src files, and found one and
- only one match...the above line.
-
- can anyone please explain how that got there? newsreader with a sense
- of humor was my first thought, but mork doesn't appear in the src....
-
- any other ideas? did anyone else get this same line?
