- Hi,
-
- Yesterday I connected a modem to a Sun SPARCstation 1 just to figure
- out how to setup a dial-in/out connection. The modem I use is a
- Discovery 1200A type modem and it is connected to ttya.
- To provide dial-in support I changed the entry for ttya into the
- following:
-
- tty "/usr/etc/getty std.1200" dialup on remote
-
- To provide dial-out support I created a new device /dev/cua0 as it
- is explained in the Sun manual "System & Network Administration".
- I also added an entry to /etc/ttytab as follows:
-
- cua0 "/usr/etc/getty D1200" unknown off remote
-
- I am able to use tip to connect to the modem and to send it AT
- commands. I am also able to dial out and connect to remote modems.
- But when someone tries to dial-in it just hangs up shortly after
- detecting the carrier. The CD led on the front panel lights up for
- a few seconds and then the modem drops the connection.
-
- What is going wrong or what am I doing wrong and does somebody know
- what to do about it?
-
- Erwin.
