  10. I keep seeing questions about upgrading USR modems, even shortly after
  11. posting the upgrade policy. So here it is again. This file was
  12. downloaded directly from their support forum (actually the Modem Vendor
  13. Forum) on CompuServe.

  15. I make no comment on the economic sense (or lack of it) that any
  16. of these arrangements might make. Also, I have no connection with
  17. USR; I just own one of their modems :-)

  21. The long awaited upgrades are finally here!  Here is a brief synopsis
  22. of the various upgrades and procedures.
  23.  
  24. U.S. Robotics is offering current participants in our Sysop Program the
  25. first opportunity to participate.  August 3 - August 21 is just for them!
  26. Starting August 24 upgrades are available for all owners of U.S. Robotics
  27. Courier Desktop and Internal (PC) High Speed modems.  
  28. The entire program will last through October 30.

  30. Trade-In:  The trade-in gives you the chance to upgrade to the new small
  31.            footprint architecture with fax.  The trade-in involves staying
  32.            in the same product type.  What this means is that if you own an
  33.            HST, trade-in your old modem for a new 16,800 bps HST with fax!
  34.            Or, if you own a Courier V.32 or V.32bis, trade it in for a new 
  35.            Courier V.32bis with fax!  Dual Standards work the same way.  
  36.            Remember Trade Like for Like.  All new modems also come with
  37.            BlastFax software.

  40. Trade-Up:  The trade-up is really more of a trade across.  You can go from
  41.            one product type to any other in the Courier High Speed line.
  42.            for example, if you own an HST, trade up to a Dual Standard.
  43.            Own a V.32bis, trade up to a Dual Standard.  Likewise, own an HST,
  44.            you can move across to a V.32bis.  Any cross over of product 
  45.            type is a trade-up in this program.  Just as in the Trade-In,
  46.            the new modems are the small footprint architecture and include
  47.            9600 baud fax and BlastFax software.
  48. Price: $349

  50. V.32 Module: This is the V.32 module upgrade for certain versions of our
  51.              first generation 14,400 HST modems.  Addition of this module
  52.              makes it a V.32 Dual Standard.  U.S. Robotics will also update
  53.              to the newest code available for that model, including V.42bis
  54.              where applicable.  Contact Customer Service to ensure your modem
  55.              is available for this upgrade.

  58. Fax Upgrade: We now offer an upgrade for owners of data only versions of the
  59.              small footprint Courier High Speeds.  We will update the modem
  60.              to the newest available code (DSP and SUPV), add the fax
  61.              feature and bundle BlastFax software.

  73.      must first come in house and inspected by our repair staff.  Once it is
  74.      approved and the payment option is established 
  75.      (COD, Prepay,** Personal checks add 10 days**) the new modem should 
  76.      arrive in 10-12 working days.
