  11. As a NON specialist in this area, I would be grateful for information
  12. on the following.

  14. i. For normal monochrome video signals what commercial hardware is available to
  15. compress and decompress the digitised signal in real time. Chipsets? Complete
  16. hardware? Is it available at all? For what video standards?
  17.  
  18. ii. For algorithms entailing some information loss is there any
  19. information on the effect of the resulting 'errors' in the
  20. decompressed images on the use of stereo image pairs?
