- As a NON specialist in this area, I would be grateful for information
- on the following.

- i. For normal monochrome video signals what commercial hardware is available to
- compress and decompress the digitised signal in real time. Chipsets? Complete
- hardware? Is it available at all? For what video standards?

- ii. For algorithms entailing some information loss is there any
- information on the effect of the resulting 'errors' in the
- decompressed images on the use of stereo image pairs?
