  14. I would like some opinions about which type of simple/fast/not_too_effective
  15. algorithm i should use to compress information transfered over a modem!

  17. I have two cases:
  18. 1. A normal telephone modem and 8 bit code
  19. 2. A radio communications modem (7 bit code, 32...127) with reserved code
  20.    sequences (at least "+?"=change over).
  21.  
  22. The information will be transfered, i.e. one row (80 char) at a time but 
  23. possibly it is possibly to send every character/word separately or will 
  24. that lower the compression?

  26. And remember that i have very little knowledge about compression (i have
  27. read about LZW :) ). Please reply by mail--i can post a summary here later.
