- This workshop is the third in a series dedicated to bringing together the
- South African pattern recognition community. All researchers, users and
- implementors interested in pattern recognition are invited to attend.

- Call for Papers

- Papers and posters are solicited on all topics related to pattern
- recognition, including, but not limited to:

- o Pattern Recognition Theory o
- o Image and Signal Processing o
- o Pattern Recognition Applications o
- o The Implementation of Pattern Recognition Systems o
- o Neural Networks o
- o Geophysics and Remote Sensing o
- o Computer Vision o
- o Medical Applications of Pattern Recognition o

- An author may submit a paper by mailing an abstract of no more than 300
- words to Pieter Vermeulen (address below). Submission by electronic mail is
- also acceptable. The deadline for submissions is 30 September 1992. Full
- camera ready papers are to be submitted at the workshop. Authors will be
- notified whether their papers have been accepted by 12 October 1992. Please
- indicate oral or poster presentation preference.
- Papers will be presented as posters or orally. Posters are limited to one
- A2 page. Fifteen minutes will be allowed for each oral presentation,
- followed by five minutes for questions. Two best-paper awards will be
- presented after the workshop - one for the best paper overall and one for
- the best paper presented by a student.

- Registration
-
- Registration fees are R200, including the proceedings and the conference
- dinner. Full-time students can register at a special rate of R50 that will
- not include the conference dinner or the proceedings. The official travel
- agent for the workshop is Toeropa (address below). They will supply any
- travel arrangements and accommodation in Pretoria. Accommodation is
- available in the student dorms at R37 per night (bed and breakfast).
- To register, please complete the attached tear-off slip, and send it along
- with the registration fee to Liesbeth Botha (address below). An advance
- programme will be mailed to those that register by 26 October 1992.
