- Dear Stat-L,
-
- I am a biology student, so mathematics is not with me for many years.
- However, I now have a statistic question, and wish to have the kind
- help from you. Please help.
-
- The question is :
-
- Suppose there are eight kinds of balls, each of different colour. These
- balls are put into a pool such that the pool is infinitive in size, and
- the eight kinds of balls have equal distribution. Now I randomly pick a
- number of balls, say 100. What is the probability that I get all the
- eight colours, no matter in what combination.
-
- Actually I wish to know the relation between the probability (P) and
- the number I picked (N). Please show me the derivation and the final
- equation.
-
- Thanks in advance.
