- This is only anecdotal, but I had a friend who was manic
- depressive. They put him on lithium and the periods of
- mania and depression stopped, but he felt dull and deadened
- inside. When he wasn't on lithium, he had all these beautiful
- and scary inspirations and wrote really powerful poetry about
- them, but on lithium nothing came to him, his poetry seemed
- mundane and cliche, and he felt like he was numb and just going
- through the motions of life. So finally, he went off the
- lithium for the sake of his poetry. I don't know
- what ever happened to him. Does anyone know of any
- studies on people like that?
