- Harry Falk's reminder (that resonates with some things others have
- said too) of the control that users have over NB3.1/SLS is salutary. I
- have been working with the NB4/Lingua beta for the past few weeks (not
- intensively, I'm afraid). It does have some terrific features. What it
- gives me (with an ATI card) is access to the "Biblical" languages
- (Hebrew/Greek) AS WELL as the transliteration set, something I would
- have needed a HGC+ for in SLS. But ... but ... well ... strange but
- true: in 3000+ characters, I still need some that I can't get!
-
- Harry's list is not far from mine. What I really wanted from Lingua
- was the transliteration (virtually any diacritic for any base
- character) plus the lovely fonts (Hebrew in SLS was substandard). I
- also like the command line recall (though this was not a necessity
- when so much of the routine could be automated).
-
- In line, then, with Harry's experience: can better fonts be wedded to
- SLS? Is this where Lodestar comes in? Or are fonts of the
- (particularly high) quality of the Lingua sets not available for this
- kind of use? Or do people who use NB output with, say, Pagemaker have
- something to contribute here?
-
- And now for something completely different:
- Would the Bramleys make a decent beverage of some kind? With some
- mixed varieties you could get a decent white wine ... what do they use
- for cider in those parts?? Could they go into chutney? How about Apple
- Crisp (Apple Betty?) ....
-
- David.
