- Having found the solution to using the spell checker after inserting ASCII 196
- dashes (without spaces) into my text in a wonderfully informative discussion
- of separators and adding a customized separator table in the file General.zip
- (available from TAUNIVM listserv, SIMTEL20, etc). I'd like, with ITAMAR, to
- encourage other to have a look at some of the other gems in that file.
-
- In these frustrating days waiting for NB4, its nice to be reminded how
- powerful and flexible even NB3.x can be. The most useful revelation to me is
- the document (HL.DOC, I think) that describes the only partially documented
- help function ALT-?.
-
- Previously, if I had to "designate" a new printer, or prepare a table of
- contents, I'd go through the sequence of steps F1-PRINT-DESIGNATE (this
- doesn't work if you have a directory list on the screen--in that case F1-PRINT
- allows you to name a file to print, it does not bring up the next level of
- menu choices). Or F1-OTHER-CONTENT-GENERATE.
-
- What I was reminded by the document in general zip (I'm not sure I ever knew
- it before) was that instead you can write "designate" or "generate" on the
- command line, push ALT-? (actually since the ? is the shifted symbol it should
- be ALT-/). The desired help screen appears immediately. Its a little time
- saver and makes it much easier to concentrate on what you doing.
-
- There lots of other stuff in there too.
