- We've got something called Bookmaster on VM. I think this is what IBM
- refers to as a 'markup language', whatever that is. It's used with SCRIPT
- to rebuild the Bookmanager/Read format online doc if it came with the
- script source...
-
- My VM/XA SP2.1 system came with the manuals on 3480. They were in
- "Bookmanager/Read VM" format (i.e. object format) and "source format"
- (i.e. SCRIPT files). I can use BookMaster R3.0 and Script to produce
- LIST3820 files and print them on 3820's and 3827's. It goes without
- saying that since I have the source I can make additions/corrections
- to the manuals relevant to my site. Unfortunately, most of the online
- doc we get from IBM now is OCO. Maybe this is the beginning of something
- really bad????
-
- The above is true for VM/ESA R1.1 although I haven't unloaded the online
- doc yet. Most all the new stuff I've been getting comes with online doc
- also (TCP/IP for VM, VTAM/ESA, ISPF, Postscript Interpreter, etc...).
- The VMCenter products also have online docs (for a price...).
-
- Since all the things you need on VM to read/build/modify these docs
- are free if you're on the HESC, it's a pretty good thing to have.....
