- I never considered IRC as a toy. Some users may *USE* IRC like a
- toy, but IRC can be and is used as a real tool/service on the
- Internet. Unfortunately, the "IRC is toy" faction seems to be
- gaining ground (one of the reasons I have stopped running servers
- myself).
-
- Real internet conferencing will most likely come outside the current
- IRC "community", which is kind of sad. I still maintain, that the
- experience gained from IRC is valuable. This includes both technical
- and social aspects, positive (what we did right) and negative (what
- we did wrong) aspects in both areas.
