- I've been reviewing gopher clients for the Mac at work.
- Of the ones I've looked at, GopherApp out of Indiana is the
- nicest for our purposes, because it makes the gopher-server's
- files and directories look like MacFiles and MacFolders on the
- MacDesktop ...
-
- Problem is, we run our own gopher hole here
- (Gopher.Virginia.EDU, called GWIS) and I want to make a
- GopherApp file that opens automatically to our own hole.
- The only way I can figure to do this is with either the
- "New Gopher Link" or "Edit Gopher Link" options under the "Internet"
- menu, but both options are grayed out (as is the "Text" menu(?))
-
- I wrote email to Software@Bio.Indiana.EDU about a week ago,
- but haven't gotten anything back.
-
- So ...
-
- (1) Has anyone encountered this problem and overcome it?
-
- (2) Does anyone have a copy of GopherApp that doesn't behave
- this way (assuming it's shareware/freeware/fairware) ?
-
- (3) Does anyone know of a different Gopher client for
- Macintosh that is both
- (a) easily customizable, and
- (b) fairly transparent to the under-literate
- Macintosh user?
-
- Any help will be appreciated.
-
- Thanks,
-
