The Find keystone provides Tailor with powerful graphical find and modify functionality. For example, you can change all lines thinner than 0.25 points to exactly 0.25 points, or substitute one typeface for another across the whole document or a selection.
The Find panel has the expected Next, Previous, Modify and Modify All buttons.
A first browser offers a list of twenty find criteria for object attributes such as color, linewidth, font, text or position. By specifying a value for one or more criteria, you determine which objects are to be found. Most criteria allow to specify multiple values or a from-to range.
A second browser offers a list of modify actions for object attributes or geometric transformations. By specifying a value for one or more actions, you determine the changes applied to the objects when you press Modify or Modify All.
You can set the Modify All scope to be the complete document, or limit it to the current page or selection.
The Align keystone provides Tailor with comprehensive alignment tools and functions.
Main alignment tools are a background grid and a crosshair. The grid's width and height can be specified separately. The crosshair can be aligned to any existing object, or its position can be specified numerically. The crosshair position can be numerically displayed relative to any reference position.
Alignment functions include :
• snap to grid and/or to crosshair while moving or resizing objects
• align or resize objects to grid or crosshair
• align or resize objects to each other
• distribute objects
Alignment operations can be performed on an object's left/bottom, center or right/top. For text lines, font metrics (baseline) may be optionally used instead of the regular bounding rectangle.
The file "Tailor_Find_Align_1.0beta.tar" (0.523 MB) contains installation packages for both the Find and the Align keystones. This beta version is provided to allow testing by current users of Tailor version 2.0a or higher.
This beta version only runs on Intel and Motorola hardware (sorry). The final release will run on PA-RISC hardware as well, and will hopefully include German help. Apart from that (and bug fixes), this beta release is complete.
The Find & Align keystones run in demo mode unless you have entered a license string.
Current users of Tailor *Publishing* are invited to request their free license strings from FirstClass NV. Please specify the serial number of your Tailor copy (a number in the form of LNNNNN, where L is a letter and N is a digit). Users of Tailor *Office* can obtain license strings at an additional cost.
