  5. I can comment on the compression and the archive format. You will probably want  
  6. an unbiased source for other information.

  8. A separate uncompressed table of contents is maintained. For each file it  
  9. contains a name, permissions, byte offset, CRC number, compression method, a  
  10. possible floppy number, and if compression state was reset.

  12. This allows single files to be extracted without having to uncompress the  
  13. entire archive which may stretch over multiple floppies.

  15. Different compression methods are used depending on the file type and the  
  16. requested speed. The files are sorted by type in the archive to increase the  
  17. compression ratio. During compression the compression state is reset whenever  
  18. the compression method changes or a certain number of bytes have passed.

  20. There is no support for adding files to an existing archive. Currently there  
  21. are no command line utilities.
