  15. If you're a user of the ZPAYII system and upgrading to ZPAY 3 we
  16. strongly advise you to run ZPAY 3's tutorial from the manual using
  17. the sample data files before running a real payroll.  There are
  18. many different commands, and not being familiar, you can ruin your
  19. old data files.

  21. ***Corrections to ZPAY 3 Manual:***

  23. On page 3-3 change last paragraph on page "Refer to Page 3-5" to
  24. "Refer to Page 3-7".

  26. On page 3-4 change first paragraph on page "Refer to Page 3-7" to
  27. "Refer to Page 3-13".

  32. ***Special note for MENU program users:***
  33.  
  34. Some menu programs do not actually "change" directories and drives
  35. when calling programs to be run.  The ZPAY 3 programs require that 
  36. you be "logged" into the directory in which the programs reside. If
  37. you're using a menu or shell type of program to run programs on your
  38. hard drive, you should use a batch file to run the ZPAY 3 programs 
  39. and not a direct call by your menu or shell program to ZPAY3.EXE.
  40.  
  41. A sample batch file will be shown below.  In the sample batch file
  42. the drive that ZPAY 3 is located on is the D: drive and the directory
  43. is \ZPAY3.  The batch file will move to the D: drive from the C: drive
  44. and switch to the ZPAY3 directory.  It will then call ZPAY3.EXE and on
  45. exit return to the root directory of the C: drive.

  47. Call the following batch file ZPAY3.BAT and place it in your root
  48. directory of your C: drive.

  56. Now have your menu or shell program call the ZPAY3.BAT file and not
  57. the ZPAY3.EXE program.

  59. ***Original LaserJet Printer Users:***

  61. If you're using the original LaserJet printer you will need a font Cartridge 
  62. that supports both Portrait and Landscape Roman-8 line printer fonts in the
  63. 16.66 size.

  67. Many General Ledger programs are capable of importing data from packages
  68. such as ZPAY 3.  You will find a selection called BRIDGE under the 
  69. Miscellaneous reports sub menu in the REPORTS module.  This selection will
  70. create a file and name it BRIDGE.ASC.  The file is a comma delimited file
  71. and contains the following information in the following order:

  73. 1. Employee number
  74. 2. Employee name
  75. 3. Employee check number
  76. 4. Date paid
  77. 5. Regular pay for period
  78. 6. Bonus pay for period
  79. 7. Commission pay for period
  80. 8. Vacation pay for period
  81. 9. Reported tips for period
  82. 10. Collected tips for period
  83. 11. Federal tax for period
  84. 12. FICA for period
  85. 13. Medicare for period
  86. 14. State tax for period
  87. 15. Local tax for period
  88. 16. SDI tax for period
  89. 17. Mis. deduction 1 for period
  90. 18. Mis. deduction 2 for period
  91. 19. Mis. deduction 3 for period
  92. 20. Mis. deduction 4 for period
  93. 21. Mis. deduction 5 for period
  94. 22. Mis. deduction 6 for period
  95. 23. Net pay for period

  106. If you use Quicken and want to convert the BRIDGE data from ZPAY 3 for
  107. use with Quicken, the Public (software) Library has a utility.  They will
  108. sell a copy of the program for $5.00 which will cover the cost of the
  109. disk and postage.  If you want to order on the phone with a MasterCard
  110. or Visa, the charge is $9.00.  Ask for the ZPAY 3 to Quicken conversion 
  111. utility.

  121. You must have the full drive and path name as your work file in order
  122. for the RESTORE function to copy your files into the proper directory.

  124. the files will be restored to your root directory.
