This dialog box allows you to get and set the size of application windows.
This feature is particularly useful for the following cases:
Get: Measuring windows or fetching the size of one window in order to apply it to another one.
Set: Checking to see how your document will look in different screen resolutions.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Simply drag the appropriate icon and drop it onto the targeted window. If you use the "Get size" icon, the size of the targeted window will be placed in the "Top level window size" combo box. If you use the "Set size" icon, the targeted window will be resized to the value of the "Top level window size" combo box. In both cases, the state of the Include options will determine the window attributes that will be retrieved or applied.
Your target must be a window that can be manually resized such as the main window of most applications. This means that maximized windows and dialog boxes will not be resized. For MDI (Multiple Document Interface) applications, Reglo allows you to resize the documents independently of the main application window.
COMMANDS
- Top level window size: Select or enter the targeted window size.
- Include:
- Width: Get or set the width of the application's window.
- Height: Get or set the height of the application's window.
- Frame: Exclude or include the window frame as part of the size.
- Get size icon: Drag and drop it onto the window whose size you want to fetch.
- Set size icon: Drag and drop it onto the window you want to resize.
- Close: Close this dialog box.
- Help: Display this window.
TIPS
- Uncheck the "Frame" box to simulate a maximized window.
- You can cancel while dragging by pressing the right mouse button.
- Results may vary from one application to another depending on their design.
- If the target window is a dialog box or another type of window that can't be manually resized, Reglo will operate on the first parent window that can be resized.
EXAMPLES
(A) The spatial resolution of your desktop is 800 x 600, and you would like to see how your document fits in 640 x 480 without going there.
1- Select "640 x 480", and check "Width" and "Height".
2- Drag the "Set" icon and drop it onto the window of the application used to view your document.
3- The document viewer should be resized to 640 x 480 pixels.
(B) You want to compare two documents of the same type, and would like to make it easier by setting both document windows to the same size.
1- Set the first document window to the desired size.
2- Drag the "Get" icon and drop it onto the first document window.
3- Drag the "Set" icon and drop it onto the other document window.
