On their [PARA]own, UMIST competitions and involvement aren't quite so pulse [PARA]straining. Students can only play for Manchester University's [PARA]teams in sports where UMIST hasn't got a team of its own.[EITAL][PARA][PARA][ITAL][HDNG]SPORTS FACILITIES:[EHDNG][EITAL][PARA]Most facilities are shared with Manchester University. At [PARA]Fallowfield, 21/2 miles from the campus, UMIST has an 10 acre [PARA]sports ground called MUTECH, [ITAL]which sounds frighteningly like [PARA]something you might find on a used hanky[EITAL] and where students [PARA]can use the various playing fields, the tennis courts the pavilion [PARA]and its bar. On the campus, on the top floor of the Main Building, [PARA]there are facilities for 5-a-side football, badminton, basketball. At [PARA]the Sugden Sports Centre just 150yds from the campus, there's [PARA]more sporty gear, including a multigym, squash and tennis courts[PARA]and more 5-a-side football. For test and county cricket, there's Old [PARA]Trafford and golf at the Golf Club. Speedway bikes at [PARA]Broadhurst Park, Rugby at Swinton, Salford and Trafford [PARA]Borough, Volleyball at Sale.
