The Union Building is impressive too, palatially[PARA]big with facilities to spare, if a bit like a rabbit warren. Politically, [PARA]there is a pull to the right from the 'agri' students, but others tend [PARA]to be mildly left.[EITAL][HDNG]SU FACILITIES:[EHDNG][PARA]There's a whole floor of franchise outlets, currently hosting a [PARA]record store, travel shop and others. The charity [PARA]Rag raised รบ14,000 last time they counted and SCAN(Student [PARA]Community Action Newcastle) has a very high profile with local [PARA]help projects, a full time staff member and its own fund-raising [PARA]shop and minibuses.[HDNG]RELIGIOUS:[EHDNG][PARA][STAT][BULL] 3 chaplains (CofE, RC, Methodist)[ESTAT][PARA]If not in Newcastle itself, most denominations are represented on[PARA]the Tyne and Wear conurbation.[HDNG]PAID WORK:[EHDNG][PARA][ITAL]High levels of unemployment leave students at the back of the [PARA]queue[EITAL], although there are a few opportunities in bars, the [PARA]theatres and underpaid work at the Metro Centre.[PARA][PARA]
