[EITAL]There is a small charge for some facilities if not organised through the sporting clubs.[HDNG]SPORTS FACILITIES:[EHDNG][PARA]Close to the principle parts of the University (the halls of residence, the Union and the main teaching areas) are the sports facilities spread over 46 acres including an athletics track, playing fields, cricket squares, an all-weather floodlit pitch and netball and tennis courts. In the adjacent sports centre are a gym, sports hall, multigym, fitness centre, 7 squash courts, and a climbing wall. Also, based in the sports centre, there's a sports shop and [ITAL]strangely[EITAL], pizza take-away and hairdresser. The towns add extra amenities such as a golf course, ski slope, a swimming pool, lake and bowling green. A new sports hall is due to open in September 1994, with volleyball, badminton and basketball courts.[HDNG]SPORTING CLUBS:[EHDNG][PARA]Aeroball; Caving; Frisbee; Kung Fu; Rock Climbing; Tae Kwon Do; Water-skiing.[HDNG]ATTRACTIONS:[EHDNG][PARA]Locally, there's Stoke City and Port Vale Football Clubs, Uttoxeter Race Course, the Potteries marathon and, most years, the Lombard rally.[PARA][PARA]
