[EITAL]There is a small [PARA]charge for some facilities if not organised through the sporting [PARA]clubs.[HDNG]SPORTS FACILITIES:[EHDNG][PARA]Close to the principle parts of the University (the halls of [PARA]residence, the Union and the main teaching areas) are the sports [PARA]facilities spread over 46 acres including an athletics track, playing[PARA]fields, cricket squares, an all-weather floodlit pitch and netball and[PARA]tennis courts. In the adjacent sports centre are a gym, sports [PARA]hall, multigym, fitness centre, 7 squash courts, and a climbing [PARA]wall. Also, based in the sports centre, there's a sports shop and [ITAL][PARA]strangely[EITAL], pizza take-away and hairdresser. The towns add [PARA]extra amenities such as a golf course, ski slope, a swimming [PARA]pool, lake and bowling green. A new sports hall is due to open in [PARA]September 1994, with volleyball, badminton and basketball courts.[HDNG]SPORTING CLUBS:[EHDNG][PARA]Aeroball; Caving; Frisbee; Kung Fu; Rock Climbing; Tae Kwon Do;[PARA]Water-skiing.[HDNG]ATTRACTIONS:[EHDNG][PARA]Locally, there's Stoke City and Port Vale Football Clubs, [PARA]Uttoxeter Race Course, the Potteries marathon and, most years,[PARA]the Lombard rally.[PARA][PARA]
