You may remember having heard some speech samples on previous SuperDisks. They were produced using the innovative SoftSpeak system from Quantech. Well, this month, we're proud to give away their complete sound editor, along with a number of samples and effects. EGA or VGA required.

#DUNES Novelty
Here's a novel executive toy. It's like one of those glass things you fill with sand of different colours and then turn over and watch the result. But it also has a few extra features that you'll see when you run it. Please note that this program requires a VGA card.

#TACTICS Strategy game
Not since Rubik's multi-faceted man-year wasting device has such a taxing patience puzzle come along. The idea is simple, re-arrange all the blocks into the correct order by sliding them in columns and rows. Easy. You think so? Try it out for yourself. Please note: VGA card required.

#DEVICE DRIVER HANDLER Utility
This revolutionary utility could, potentially, do away with the need to have CONFIG.SYS files. With it you can load and unload device drivers such as ram drives and, here's the good part, WITHOUT having to reboot your PC!

#GORES Utility
Yet another scorcher for you this month. Now you can pop back to DOS from any text mode program (even those that don't normally let you shell out!). Or, you can select a favourite non-TSR program, such as an organiser, to pop-up instead of DOS, whenever you press the hot key.

#MIPS Utility
Short but sweet. This program reports roughly how many mips (Million Instructions Per Second) your PC can execute. Although it's only supposed to give a rough guide, in tests the results appear to usually be spot-on.

screen;cls;run utils\mips;wait
#MKD Utility
Now you can make directories anywhere on a disk, as many levels deep as your require. Especially useful for installation procedures, this program will take a complete path as its argument and create the specified directory, along with any necessary parent directories.

#PSTATUS Batch file utility
This handly little program will save your batch files from hanging around trying to print to the printer port when you don't have a printer or it's not on line. All you need do is call PSTATUS and check the ERRORLEVEL when it returns.

#XBUFF Hardware utility
If you're one of the thousands of PC users who can type faster than their PCs will accept input, especially during disk accesses, your problem is now solved. With XBUFF your keyboard buffer will be extended from 16 to 100 character type-ahead. That should be enough for virtually all purposes.

#SUPERDISK FORUM TimeTrak Schedule
Only room for one entry for the SuperDisk Forum this month, but it's a goody. To use it you'll need a copy of the Timetrak program (from the November 1991 SuperDisk). It's a photographer's database, ready set up for all the usual details photographers need to keep track of. Very nice.
