  6. Several shortcuts have been built into CD-Runner to help an 
  7. experienced user more quickly navigate through screens and 
  8. options. One of the biggest shortcuts involves the mouse; 
  9. although you can use the pulldown menus and/or command buttons
  10. to access everything in CD-Runner, a faster and more efficient 
  11. way is to click directly on the item or "hotspot" on the screen. 
  12. These hotspots are easy to spot; when the mouse is moved over 
  13. one, the mousepointer will change from the default arrow pointer 
  14. to a "hand" pointer.
  15.  
  16. For example, in the Audio CD player you may click directly on 
  17. the Time display to change it's display mode, or directly on
  18. the Artist or Song Titles to display the CD Info box. Likewise
  19. if CD Jacket art (graphics) have been scanned in for a specific
  20. CD, then left-click the mouse on either the CD Jacket text in 
  21. the music calendar window or directly on the display itself to 
  22. directly bring up the display selection box.
  23.  
  24. Another useful hotspot is the Audio CD and CD-ROM Runner disc 
  25. drawers; simply left-click the mouse on this hotspot to eject 
  26. the audio CD or CD-ROM. Note that you can also identify the 
  27. hotspots by bringing up the CD-Runner help module (press 
  28. function key F1 anywhere in CD-Runner to see context-sensitive 
  29. help). Simply move the mouse to the different parts of the 
  30. faceplates and a pop-up help box will display the hotspot 
  31. and describe its function.

  33. Note that both left AND right mouse clicks are available on 
  34. some hotspot areas.

  37. TIPS
  38.  
  39. The CD-Runner Main Menu screen includes a Tips popup box. 
  40. Even if you have disabled the "display on startup" option on the 
  41. tips box, you may view any or all of the tips by selecting the Main 
  42. Menu Tips option. 
  43.  
  44. The following tips are available:
  45.  
  46. 1. To move the Audio CD, CD-ROM, RD or Media Runner 
  47.      faceplates, simply click and hold down the left mouse button 
  48.      and move the faceplate to the desired position.
  49.  
  50. 2. To re-center the Audio CD, CD-ROM, RD or Media Runner 
  51.      faceplates, simply click the right mouse button on the faceplate.
  52.  
  53. 3. To exit or quit a screen, press the Esc key (this is the same 
  54.      as clicking on the Cancel, Quit or Exit command buttons).
  55.  
  56. 4. To get help at any time, press function key F1.
  57.  
  58. 5. To access the menu bar selections or commands buttons using the 
  59.      keyboard, press and hold down the Alt key and press the letter 
  60.      which is underlined (e.g. press "Alt F" to access the "File" 
  61.      menu selection).

  63. 6. To play a movie file (*.avi,*.mpg,*.dat,*.qt,*.mov,*.m1v,*.mpeg,
  64.      *.mpe,*.mpa,*.mp2,*.enc,*.mmm) or a wave or midi file directly, 
  65.      enter the command line "CDLAUNCH <drive\path\filename>" 
  66.      (e.g. CDLAUNCH C:\WINDOWS\MEDIA\CLOUDS.MID). This 
  67.      will load the Media Runner and automatically play the file.
  68.  
  69. 7. To run an application using CD-Runner directly, enter the command 
  70.      line "CDLAUNCH <drive\path\filename>" (e.g. CDLAUNCH 
  71.      C:\WINDOWS\WORDPAD.EXE). This will run the specified 
  72.      application and unload CD-Runner.
  73.  
  74. 8. To change your default Web Browser for use with CD-Runner, 
  75.      access the Setup-Advanced section.
  76.  
  77. 9. If you minimize the Audio CD or Media Runners while they are 
  78.      playing a desired selection, a convenient popup volume and 
  79.      track control will be displayed on top of all screens. This 
  80.      allows you to change volume or access the track commands 
  81.      while using another Windows application.
  82.  
  83. 10. To move to any position in an Audio CD or Media Runner track, 
  84.       click directly on the horizontal status bar (under the track 
  85.       number and time display).
  86.  
  87. 11. If you are using multiple CD-ROM or Removable Drives, if you 
  88.       originally entered a new application on the default drive 
  89.       and later place the CD-ROM or RD in a different drive, 
  90.       CD-Runner will automatically find it and run it.
  91.  
  92. 12. All hotspots in CD-Runner are designated by a "Hand"
  93.       mousepointer. Any time the mousepointer changes from a 
  94.       arrow-type pointer to a hand, you may click directly on 
  95.       the text or graphic to perform the associated action.
  96.  
  97. 13. Click directly on the Audio CD or CD-ROM Runner Disc Drawer 
  98.       to automatically eject the CD in the default drive.
  99.  
  100. 14. Click directly on any time display to change it's format type 
  101.       (e.g. click on time when in elapsed mode to change to a 
  102.       remaining time display).
  103.  
  104. 15. When playing a movie in the Media Runner, click and hold the 
  105.       left mouse button and move the playback screen or faceplate 
  106.       to any desired position. Click the right mouse button on 
  107.       either screen or faceplate to re-center both.
  108.  
  109. 16. If there is no CD in the primary drive and the Disc Prompt 
  110.       screen is shown, you may click on the "Ejected CD" icon 
  111.       to automatically load the CD and close the drive door if 
  112.       you are using a "caddyless" CD-ROM drive.
  113.  
  114. 17. You can easily turn your PC into a screen saver which plays 
  115.       audio CDs by using the "CD-Jacket" option in the Audio 
  116.       CD Runner Library and selecting a directory containing your 
  117.       favorite bitmap (BMP) files!
  118.  
  119. 18. To hide the CD-ROM and RD Runners control panel, click 
  120.       anywhere on the recessed panel. To open the door, click 
  121.       anywhere on the door panel. You may also set the default 
  122.       control panel door state (open or closed) in the Setup section.
  123.  
  124. 19. To remove the "on-top" volume and track controls popup screen 
  125.       (visible when Media or Audio CD Runners are minimized and 
  126.       playing), click the right mouse button on the popup screen.

  128. 20. You may remove the main CD-Runner screen from loading and go 
  129.       directly to the Audio CD or CD-ROM Runners by changing the 
  130.       "display main menu on startup" checkbox in the Setup section.
  131.  
  132. 21. You can easily modify the colors and/or fonts used on all of 
  133.       the CD-Runner faceplates and Disc Prompt screen by accessing 
  134.       the "Customize" option in the Setup section.
  135.  
  136. 22. The CD-Runner background wallpaper used may be changed 
  137.       (select new bitmap or BMP file), eliminated, set to a custom 
  138.       solid color, tiled or stretched to fit full screen in the Setup 
  139.       section.
  140.  
  141. 23. You may select a custom Mixer to be used with CD-Runner or 
  142.       modify the internal CD-Runner volume control options in the 
  143.       Setup section.
  144.  
  145. 24. The CD-Runner Setup section contains an "Advanced" section 
  146.       which allows you to set your Web Browser, Enhanced CD 
  147.       players and Password and other Miscellaneous options.
  148.  
  149. 25. Click the left mouse button on the Title or Description display in 
  150.       any of the faceplates to display a drop-down selection box to 
  151.       select songs, movies, applications, etc..
  152.  
  153. 26. If you are using the background wallpaper, you may minimize or 
  154.       restore it by clicking on the "WP-On" or "WP-Off" hotspots in 
  155.       the faceplate display windows.
  156.  
  157. 27. To register CD-Runner to be used by the Windows 95 Autoplay 
  158.       feature, select "My Computer", "View", "Options", "File Types", 
  159.       and "Audio CD"; highlight "Play", click "Edit" and in the 
  160.       "Application Used..." line type: C:\CDRUNNER\CDLAUNCH.EXE 
  161.       (or if using a different CDRUNNER directory enter the correct 
  162.       name).

  164. 28. If CD-Runner is registered to be used by the Windows 95 
  165.       Autoplay feature, then you may use the Windows Explorer to 
  166.       display the Audio tracks on the CD loaded & launch the 
  167.       Audio CD Runner to play a desired track simply by clicking on it.
  168.  
  169. 29. To launch the Audio CD Runner directly from Windows, setup a 
  170.       shortcut using the following command line: 
  171.       C:\CDRUNNER\CDLAUNCH.EXE AUDIOCD (or if using a 
  172.       different CDRUNNER directory enter the correct name).

  174. 30. To add CD-Runner to your Start button, right mouse click on 
  175.       the Windows taskbar, select "Properties", "Start Menu Programs", 
  176.       "Add", at command line box enter CD-Runner executable (e.g. 
  177.       "C:\CDRUNNER\CDLAUNCH.EXE") or Browse, select the Folder 
  178.       to place CD-Runner in (or create new folder), and enter a 
  179.       shortcut name (e.g. "CD-Runner").
  180.  
  181. 31. To launch an Audio CD or CD-ROM and bypass all CD-Runner 
  182.       screens, use the CD-Runner Lite menu option (Start/
  183.       CD-Runner Applications/CD-Runner Lite). Note that CD-ROMs 
  184.       must initially be setup in CD-Runner to use this option.

  186. 32. To create a "CD Runner Lite" shortcut, add a new shortcut 
  187.       using the following command line: 
  188.       C:\CDRUNNER\CDLAUNCH.EXE CDLITE (or if using a different 
  189.       CDRUNNER directory enter the correct name).
