Starfleet officer who served at the Utopia Planitia Fleet yards at the time the Starship Enterprise -D was under construction. (“Eye of the Beholder” [TNG]). Wallace was transferred to the Enterprise -D crew just prior to the ship's first mission under the command of Captain Picard in 2364. (“All Good Things…” [TNG]). Guy Vardaman was an extra and a stand-in through all seven seasons of Star Trek: The Next Generation. He could occasionally be seen as a background crew member, sometimes in Engineering, as well as in Ten Forward. As an engineering technician, he helped assemble Lore's parts in “Datalore” (TNG), and in command uniform, he flew the ship in “The Wounded” (TNG) and “The Hunted” (TNG). He did not have a last name until “Descent, Part I” (TNG), where he was a security officer. (Obviously, Wallace was a multi-talented guy.) He finally got a first name in a computer screen display in “Eye of the Beholder” (TNG). Wallace was among the Enterprise -D crew members who first greeted Picard when the captain first boarded the ship in a flashback scene in “All Good Things...” (TNG), and he was among the last to evacuate the stardrive section just prior to the ship's crash in Star Trek: Generations. Guy Vardaman also worked occasionally as a photo-double for Data's hands (for extreme close-up shots of Data pressing buttons, for example), and appeared as a Klingon and a Romulan as well.

~1:[3,#B],9:[2,#B],32:[2,#B],53:[16,#I]@1warp field coils@2Toroidal structures with a starship warp drive which, assisted by hull configuration, actually form the subspace “bubble” in which the ship travels in at warp. Exposure to a verteron pulse can overload these field coils, causing warp drive, and all other subspace systems, to fail. (“Force of Nature” [TNG]). Warp field coils were seen behind the nacelle control room in “Eye of the Beholder” (TNG).
~1:[3,#B],25:[2,#B],47:[2,#B],54:[4,#B]@1warp field effect@2Term used to describe the cumulative damage caused by repeated exposure of an area to warp travel. Areas with already preexisting subspace instability were particularly sensitive to the effect. As the exposure to warp field energy increased, so did the chances of a subspace rupture. ~1:[3,#B],25:[2,#B]@1weather control matrix@2System used to artificially affect and control atmospheric conditions on a planetary scale. A weather control matrix was designed for planet Hekaras II following a gravitational shift that affected the planet's orbit and changed its climate. (“Force of Nature” [TNG]).
~1:[3,#B],32:[2,#B],39:[1,#I]@1weather control system@2Planetary wide system of substations which modify and control atmospheric humidity, cloud patterns, thermal changes and the flow of wind currents. In 2370, the weather control system of Caldos colony malfunctioned, necessitating assistance from the Enterprise -D. The starship utilized a power transfer beam to one of the weather control substations to assist in the stabilization of the system. A feedback loop developed, causing some rather dramatic climatic changes aboard the ship, including the development of fog on the bridge. (“Sub Rosa” [TNG]).
