  28.    a "mental illness" that can be "cured"; 2) The parents of homosexuals
  29.    are to blame for their sexual preference (which the book states, according
  30.    to the article); 3) Homosexuals inherently have more psychological
  31.    problems than heterosexuals; 4) Homosexuals are "oversexed" or have
  32.    more sex drive than heterosexuals.

  34. Randall's use of the word "oversexed" juxtaposed with Arthur's
  35. reference to blacks is very illuminating.  Not that long ago black
  36. males were the group that was considered "oversexed".  One of the
  37. tragic consequences of that stereotype (of course combined with
  38. general prejudice and an unwillingness to see black men as fellow
  39. human beings) was the infamous syphillis "research" at Tuskegee
  40. Institute.  For those who are interested, this week's Nova is about
  41. this scandalous episode (I haven't seen the TV program, but I did read
  42. "Bad Blood").
