  13. The Washington Post had an article last weekend about Clinton friend
  14. Bruce Lindsey (I think that was his name).  Very late in the campaign,
  15. in Oregon, pols were telling Clinton he should not attack the anti-gay 
  16. amendment.  After all the arguments had been spoken, Lindsey commented
  17. `Why do you want to be president if you can't stand up for what you
  18. believe?'  Clinton went ahead with his forthright denunciation of the
  19. amendment.

  22. as a candidate.
