- The Washington Post had an article last weekend about Clinton friend
- Bruce Lindsey (I think that was his name). Very late in the campaign,
- in Oregon, pols were telling Clinton he should not attack the anti-gay
- amendment. After all the arguments had been spoken, Lindsey commented
- `Why do you want to be president if you can't stand up for what you
- believe?' Clinton went ahead with his forthright denunciation of the
- amendment.

- as a candidate.
