- masa> From the university, but why ??? And I think it is "stipendi".
- masa> What is the difference between "opintotuki" and "stipendi" ?
-
- As far as I can think the difference is that opintotuki especially means
- you get money to support your studies in Finland and For Finnish younger
- and now even to older students. You can get opintotuki mainly when you
- are living alone, pay your rent and have no work -- only studying.
-
- Stipendi is some sort of gift you get from some authority who thinks
- you are skillfull enough to do something special. In highschool (lukio)
- they gave some small stipendi(es?) to the best students in different
- areas, for example mathematics, physics, visual arts and so on. They
- were pure cash.
-
- In university stipendi means either you go out from your country to
- study or do some research somewhere else and your authority sends
- you there with some quarantee to pay your tution fees or fees to some
- extent.
-
- So, I hope I made something more clear... anyway, have fun :-).
