- If you're going to patch a hardwood floor that was applied directly to
- the floor joists, you'd best be REAL careful about making sure the
- seams (end to end butt joints) occur on (at) a joist or else you're
- going to have all kinds of spring (and eventually failure) at the
- joint. Finding the right location for the cuts can lead to some
- tricky moments in themselves. Much, much easier if you've got a
- subfloor.
