- Has it yet been established that this popping sound is a problem
- exclusively with the Sony 696/595, or of the hi-fi format in general?
- I don't know -- I havn't had any experience with hi-fi VCR's
- until recently.
-
- I still think it could be a dropout problem. Not all hi-fi tapes I've
- tried have this popping (some have more than their share, mind you), and
- saying that those tapes don't give you problems on other, non-hi-fi
- machines means nothing.
-
- Please keep us posted if Sony admits to any error on their part, particularly
- if they offer to fix/replace defective units.
