- Hmmmm, I don't want to buy `Wide Television' set.
- But...

- |Has anybody seen or heard of the Toshiba Bazooka Wide Television?
- |I have seen ads for it in Japanese magazines.
-
- `Wide Television' is a FAKE for now! I saw many discussions
- over it, but I did't want to mention it. Only HDTV can fulfill
- wider view. This kind of TV set just zoom in normal TV and no
- improvement on picture! I recommend bigger TV. But I have to
- mention that many companies are trying real wide vision on
- in conventional sysytem.
-
- |I can't understand the kanji but neither could a (very non-technical)
- |Japanese person explain exactly what this "technology" is...
-
- So, the "technology" is maybe focused on digital conversion
- and digital effects.
-
- |The add seems to say that, for example, in a side view of people lined
- |up, if a normal tv sees 2 people, on this tv you would see 4.
- |They illustrate this by shading two side portions of the screen meant to
- |show a normal tv screen size in the middle.
- |
- |My question is, what is this? In other words, what media (satellite,
- |video, laser disc), if any, provide a wider vista than what a normal
- |television can show. Is this only for "vista" type videos and laser
- |discs [sorry, I forget the proper term for when they release a video
- |without cropping: ?-box]?
-
- Japanese version Bazooka has a extensional function to show
- Japanese HDTV picture by using wider NTSC vision(also 16:9).
- This function requires MUSE decoder(MUSE: Japanese HDTV analog
- compression system) connected to TV set.
- If you buy both, you can enjoy HDTV via direct satellite:
- wider aspect and better quality picture allows you to get closer
- to TV... SO many people can watch it!!!
